Vale da Capucha, Palhete 2019

Flag of Portugal

Vale da Capucha is a small winery based about 10km from the Atlantic Ocean (and approximately 45 minutes northwest from Lisbon). Here head winemaker, Pedro Marques, prides himself on only using indigenous grapes and converting his family's estate to fully organic and biodynamic farming and making traditional, authentic Portuguese wine. Palhete 2019 is a red made from a blend of Castelão and the white grape Arinto. The light red/white co-ferment is a perfect example of Pedro's brilliance: it’s a vivid wine; vibrant and bright, with notes of pink peppercorn, cranberry and sour cherry. Dry, light and refreshing, it’s a classic "vin de soif" that really shines with a slight chill.
